Kenyon Kribs: Crozier Center for Women

October 23, 2012

The Crozier Center for Women is not just a campus-wide space for events and a cappella practice, but also home to Colleen Damerell ’13, Molly Silverstein ’13, Valerie Lightner ’15, and Jenny Ruymann ’15. The downstairs is a common area open to all who need a quiet space to study or a fully equipped kitchen for when Peirce just isn’t cutting it or if you really need brownies. The upstairs rooms are literally Kenyon’s best kept secret. They are amazing. Check it all out after the jump!

The downstairs is all decked out in Halloween decorations for the upcoming festivities, whenever they’re actually happening (Seriously. When is this party happening?). The floor is expertly carpeted and, I can say from personal experience, is a great place to eat some greasy, greasy Cove.

Lightner and Ruymann live in the double, and have managed to make their room both cozy and spacious, which I hate because my room is both cramped and also cramped.

The poor lighting of this photo does not do Silverstein’s room justice but, even backlit, it still blows any other room on campus out of the water with its wooden floor and elegant armchair on which I assume she thinks deep thoughts about gender politics.

Damerell’s room is everything you could ever ask for and more. I mean, look at that little coffee table. You wish you had that coffee table as another place to throw your dirty clothes. You also wish you had this gem:

Which reminds me, VOTE!

One of the “upcoming festivities” for Halloween is our Dessert & Discussion about witches! It’ll be on Halloween at 4:10 in Crozier and will feature several faculty members dressed as witches. Free witch hats to those who arrive early.

P.S. For those interested in obtaining an “As Seen on TV” Barack Obama Commemorative Victory Plate such as the one standing proudly on my bookshelf, I got mine at Farley & Moore, a large antique store just off the square in Mt Vernon.
