The Monday Catch Up

You had a lot of work over the weekend? So did we! Good thing we can multitask and read the papers as well.

The lead story: Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, who was shot in the head more than a year ago, will step down from Congress to focus on her recovery. Her video announcement is embedded above.

Everything else:

Superbowl XLVI will be a rematch between the New York Giants and the New England Patriots.

Yemen’s embattled president former president Ali Abdullah Saleh has left his home country for New York, where he will receive medical care.

Newt Gingrich is trying to get his shit together in advance of the Florida primary, because he’s, like, an actual candidate now.

The weather: This week’ll be positively balmy, at least by Ohio winter standards, with highs above 35 all week and occasional rain showers. That’s right, kiddos, we’re entering slush season.

Tip of the week: Your homework is real now, so snap out of the first-week-back daze. See you in the library.
