Tonight is an incredible night for the Gambier music scene. For the first time in a while, it feels like there’s something for everybody:
– For the hip-hop heads: Danny Brown @ the Horn Gallery (w/ Spaceship Pushcart & Win Dunham)
– For the raver kids: DJ gLAdiator at the toga party in Pierce Pub.
– For the child in all of us: French Club @ the V.I. (w/ the Jolly Hobos)
Previews and tunes after the jump.
[we previewed the Danny Brown show here]
Next up is gLAdiator, a DJ/Production duo from Los Angeles, Calif. Their music spans a wide array of genres, from house to dubstep, but they’ve been big players in the recent rise of Moombahton in the dance music scene. Check some of their tracks out below:
That’ll be going on from 10:00 p.m.-2:00 a.m. in the Pierce Pub, but if you’re looking to get down beforehand, or aren’t really into electronic music, you owe it to yourself to see French Club at the V.I. beforehand. In their own words:
Come see Jeff Hechler (’12)’s mighty power stance! Mikey Bullister (’14)’s poignant sex appeal! Marissa Hartman (’14)’s ancient, unlikely and worrisome sorcery! Rhodes Sabangan (’14)’s dubious rainbow courage! Lily Zwaan (’14)’s unrelenting black chariot of doom! And finally, witness Trevor Ezell (’12)’s winged ascent into the ranks of those few unnamed greats (without whose efforts our discovery and eventual occupancy of the seventh and final realm would have been nigh impossible) who have continuously challenged the freedom and chastity of man and beast alike throughout the centuries through which only one could even conceive!!!!!!! What?!
That’s all I needed to hear, but if you’re not convinced yet, here are a couple more reasons:
That first-year band The Jolly Hobos opens at 10:00 p.m.. French club at 10:30. Godspeed.
