Spring has Sprung?!

How lucky that they match our colors.

It’s Feb. 29, a weird, misfit day on which anything can happen. And it seems like Gambier might be treating us to an early spring: look at these tiny purple crocuses that have been sprouting in the grass near Middle Path over the past few days (the biggest patch is right in front of Rosse). With a projected high of 64˚F today and thunderstorms in the forecast, it will definitely be a springlike (although not especially pleasant) day.

  1. They’re called crocuses, and they’re always the first flowers of spring, at least in Ohio. They come in white, yellow, and purple, and although they are often used in gardens, their seeds can spread naturally, so that they pop up in unexpected places year after year.
