Day 3 Recap: DIII Swimming and Diving National Championships

Day 3 of the national championships is over, and the Lords now have some serious ground to make up. They are still in second place behind Denison University, but now trail the Big Red by 112 points, 471-359.

The Ladies remain in fourth place, behind Emory University in first, Williams College in second and Denison in third.

Individual event highlights from the day after the jump!

Individual event highlights from the day include:

  • Hannah Saiz ’13 placed second in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:58.88. Logan Todhunter of Williams, who placed first ahead of Saiz, broke her own NCAA record with her time of 1:55.66.
  • Celia Oberholzer ’15 placed third in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 55.44 seconds.
  • In the men’s 800-yard freestyle relay, the team of David Somers ’12, Zach Turk ’12, Ian Stewart-Bates ’13 and Ian Richardson ’14 placed second with their time of 6:31.78. Both their time and the time of the winning squad from Denison broke the national record.
  • Alisa Vereshchagin ’12 won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:02.43. Nikki Kett ’12 placed behind her in fourth with a time of 1:03.69.

Coming this evening: We’re here in Indianapolis and will be live-blogging the evening event finals tomorrow at around 6:00 p.m. as the national championships come to a close.
