The Monday Catchup

This is, coincidentally, the second week in a row that a Fox News anchor has appeared in the Monday Catchup photo. (via slate.com)

Good morning! Here’s the news you may have missed:

The Lead Story:

So you may have heard about the debate last week. What you may not have heard about was the debate last weekend. I’m talking about the debate between Jon Stewart and Bill O’Reilly. The two sparred over entitlements, the media and the legacy of Bush 43. What you missed in one sentence: “Blame the founders.”

Everything Else:

Depsite poor reviews, Liam Neeson’s Taken 2 raked in $50 million this weekend.

President Obama and the DNC raised $181 million last month, a new record for any campaign. That number will make more sense after the Romney campaign releases their fundraising statistics from September.

Israel shot down a drone on Saturday over its airspace. The drone did not appear to have been launched by the Palestinian Authority.

Jason Russell of Kony 2012 sat down and talked to Oprah.

The Long Read: Some college graduates will go on to jobs in retail. But it takes more than a resume and cover letter to get hired at Trader Joe’s.

The Weather: Aside from some rain on Wednesday, it is shaping up to be week of picturesque fall weather in Gambier. The average high will be 58˚F and temperatures will dip below freezing at night. It looks like Thursday will be the nicest day of October Break with a high of 60˚F.
