Though Sandy may not go barreling straight through Ohio, we’re safely in the “Alert” zone of the map. (via weather.com)
Good morning! Here’s what you missed over the weekend:
The Lead Story: This week’s lead story is Frankenstorm. Also known as “Hurricane Sandy” (or whatever), Frankenstorm will soon make landfall somewhere in Delaware/southern New Jersey. From there it is projected (science for “we aren’t sure”) to come through Pennsylvania then bang a right and head to New York State. Will Sandy cancel classes? Will Vice President Biden make it to Gambier? I hope the answer is yes to both.
Everything Else:
In the wake of President Obama’s surge in Afghanistan, many Afghans have become distrustful of America’s intentions for the region.
Two of the worlds largest publishing houses — Penguin and Random House — have agreed to merge.
Apple released the iPad Mini last week, a move that surprised no one.
Speaking of unsurprising news: teenagers don’t know how to drink anymore.
The Long Read: Why do we need sleep?
The Weather: Okay, real talk. Gambier is under a flood watch until tomorrow at 8:00 p.m. and there is a high wind warning in effect from today at noon until tomorrow at 4:00 p.m. It will rain every day this week, except Friday (though it still may rain then, too). It looks as though the worst weather this week will come tomorrow. I’m not saying the power will go out, but seriously it goes out whenever someone sneezes, so maybe prepare for that possibility.
Also the football team rose to first in the conference after a win. Not too short ago when everyone was speaking negatively about them. Very negatively. Time to rally around those guys and that team for their final two games as they do something that has NEVER BEEN DONE IN KENYON HISTORY.
GIGANTES!!!!!!!!!
