Good morning! Here’s the news you may have missed:

The Lead Story:

After seemingly making steps towards a solution to the nation’s precarious fiscal situation, both sides in Washington dug in their heels on Sunday talk shows, blaming each other for current problems. The Democratic representative at these talks, Secretary of the Treasury Tim Geithner  said the issue was a “decision that lies in the hands of Republicans who are now opposing an increase in the tax rates.”

Everything Else:

All you need to know about the recent goings on of one Lindsay Lohan.

Brad Pitt’s new movie, Killing Them Softly, bombed at its opening this weekend. The film took in $7 million.

In the wake of Palestine’s newly conferred observer status in the U.N., Israel is moving forward with settlements that would geographically divide the West Bank.

Russia recently experienced a 125-mile traffic jam.

The Long Read: When winning the Powerball isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

The Weather: The temperature looks to be all over the place this week. Expect showers on Tuesday and throughout The Weeknd.  No sign of snow yet.
