Good morning! Here’s what you missed over inauguration weekend:
The Lead Story: Chris Brown was arrested Sunday morning in Washington D.C. on felony assault charges. TMZ alleges that Brown punched the victim in the face after getting into an argument on K Street outside the W Hotel. The incident could constitute a violation of his probation for assaulting Rihanna in 2009, which would mean up to four years in jail. Seems like anger management courses are long overdue here.
Israel will release 26 Palestinian prisoners as part of a US-brokered deal.
German newspaper Der Spiegel alleges that the NSA has been tapping Chancellor Angela Merkel’s cellphone for years. Germany isn’t the only one to accuse America of spying on them. Then again, isn’t spying supposed to be secret?
The Cardinals beat the Red Sox 5-4 on Saturday night because of a bizarre play that left many angry. The Cards now lead the Sox 2-1 in the (World) series.
Update: The Red Sox struck back last night with a 4-2 victory, tying up the series.
Horror of horrors! McDonads is getting rid of Heinz ketchup, because Burger King hired a former Heinz CEO.
The Weather: This week will be a rainy one, with highs in the high 50s/mid 60s. That includes Halloween on Thursday, but this weekend looks like a decent time to show off your costume.
