Meet an SMA: Rim Yoseph ’16

We’re picking back up on the feature wherein we spotlight an SMA each Friday to raise awareness about the resources available to victims of sexual assault. Remember, the SMAs are subordinate to the Counseling Center, so anything you tell them is kept confidential. They also have an anonymous hotline you can call if you need assistance: 740-358-1544. Stay safe this weekend, and know that there is always someone you can talk to if you need help.

Today, we’re featuring Rim Yoseph, a sophomore from Ohio.

Cookie pie or giant cookie? Could it be half and half?

What’s the best meal you’ve ever had (excluding cookie pie and/or giant cookie)? For my 20th birthday, a friend I hadn’t seen in about a year half surprised me with a huge Chipotle burrito that had a “20” birthday candle on it. Maybe not the best meal in terms of taste but definitely one of the most memorable.

Favorite place to nap on campus? I think saying that Ascension’s couches aren’t that great is like an act of Kenyon blasphemy, but honestly the couches in Peirce Lounge are so much cozier and a hundred times more comfortable.

Why do you love your hometown? It’s small and everyone is incredibly friendly.

What’s the best class you’ve taken at Kenyon? I’m pretty excited for an Arabic class. I haven’t scheduled it yet but I’m sure I’ll love it when I finally take it.

Why did you become an SMA? Issues of sexual misconduct hit fairly close to home for me, and there is a serious reality behind it that we sometimes forget to think about or neglect addressing. There is a necessity of always having a  strong support system of people who are willing to listen and help in any way possible, and I wanted to be a part of that and make myself accessible to any student on campus that may be a victim of sexual harassment, know someone who has been, or just simply wants to discuss anything about it.
