Exciting news for all you blogosphere hounds out there: Kenyon’s own Adrian Galvin ’12 (of Poor Remy), part of the indie-electronica duo Yellerkin, just had a track of his remixed by first-gen chillwave star Teen Daze. The Canadian producer/songwriter has done remixes for the likes of Bon Iver, Toro y Moi, and Local Natives, and his take on Yellerkin’s “Solar Laws” cuts out the upbeat guitars and percussion of the original to submerge Galvin’s ethereal vocals in deep swamps of ominous synth drones and plodding beats.
Known mainly for sunny, reverb-heavy synthpop, here we get a different sort of sound from Teen Daze, one more akin to the dark minimalism of Purity Ring than, say, Washed Out. This post also marks the first time we’ve ever seen a Kenyon artist get remixes, so that’s pretty cool too! You can stream and download the track below the jump.
