The College will test a program this summer that would provide financial assistance for people participating in unpaid internship but who could not otherwise afford to take such a position. Though the program’s budget is still pending board approval,  the College has announced an application timeline. Full email below the jump.

Kenyon College is pleased to announce the creation of the Kenyon College Summer Internship Stipend Fund. Pending Board approval of the budget, this pilot program will be launched to address a specific concern: to provide students who cannot otherwise afford to accept unpaid internships with the option to accept them. The fund will provide a small number of students with the necessary living expenses in the city/area they will be working. Prioritizing students with high financial need, this fund will cover food, lodging, and transportation for students while on the internship.

The application will be posted the week of January 13. To be considered, students must complete and submit the application no later than March 14. As a condition of receiving the funding, students must complete the EXP 205 course, or alternately, write a reflection paper about their internship.
