The Monday Catchup

Wisconsin defeated Arizona to advance to the Final Four.

Wisconsin defeated Arizona to advance to the Final Four.

Good morning! Here’s what you missed over the weekend:

The Lead Story: March has been pretty mad. I don’t watch basketball, but my apartment does so I’ve been following it via osmosis. Eight teams faced off last weekend in the crucible of greatness. Only four survived: Florida, Connecticut, Wisconsin and Kentucky. UK beat Michigan in a dramatic buzzer-beater to advance. Who will be champion? Is your bracket still intact? Kidding — of course it isn’t.

After the jump: Malaysia Airlines update, an EDM concert gone terribly wrong, the new iPhone, the West haggles over Ukraine, Obamacare takes off, and Frozen breaks a record.

Everything Else:

The latest on the missing Malaysia Airlines flight (media coverage has become the story).

A security guard was trampled by a mob trying to get into an EDM concert for free in Miami. Unbelievable.

Russia and American sent their top diplomats to Paris to hash out Ukraine’s future. Ukraine sent no one.

The iPhone 6 is coming out in September. It’ll have a bigger screen (you’ll choose between a 4.7” and 5.5” display; the current iPhone screen is 4 inches).

Disney’s Frozen has become the top-grossing animated movie of all-time. It unseated Toy Story 3, the sequel of the sequel of the best movie ever.

As the signup deadline looms, folks are lining up to get Obamacare. The White House says over 6 million people have signed up as of last Thursday.

The Long Read: Do you keep an exotic pet in your room? If you think Kenyon’s Secret Zoo is nuts, check out this National Geographic piece on America’s most daring pet owners.

The Weather: Spring is here! I know that because it’s going to rain Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Tomorrow will be the warmest day of the week (high of 68), and temps will be in the 50s and 60s throughout the week. Hey … at least it’s not snowing?
