We’re picking back up on the feature wherein we spotlight an SMA each Friday to raise awareness about the resources available to victims of sexual assault. Remember, the SMAs are subordinate to the Counseling Center, so anything you tell them is kept confidential. They also have an anonymous hotline you can call if you need assistance: 740-358-1544. Stay safe this weekend, and know that there is always someone you can talk to if you need help.
Today, we’re featuring Annie Hulkower, a senior from Alexandria, Virginia.
Cookie pie or giant cookie? Sorry, neither…Fruit Loop bars!!!!!
What’s the best meal you’ve ever had (excluding cookie pie and/or giant cookie)? Lobster rolls on the beach.
What’s the last good book you read? Beloved by Toni Morrison.
Why do you love your hometown? During spring, it’s the perfect temp, smells lovely, and is incredibly green.
What is your favorite place to nap on campus? In the underside of a library cubicle … a backpack makes a great pillow and a jacket is the perfect blanket!
What movie have you watched most frequently and why? Tie between Bringin’ Down The House and Legally Blonde, because they are very quotable, and in middle school, I went through a phase where I would watch the same movie almost every day for a few months.
Why did you become an SMA? Sexual encounters can be wonderful, but can also go so wrong so quickly. Everyone on this campus deserves to feel safe, respected, and supported, and I wanted to learn how to be a better ally for anyone who needs that.
