Inspired by Humans of New York, The Thrill has begun documenting Kenyon students (and faculty, staff, and dogs) as they go about their daily lives. We present our loving tribute, Humans of the Hill.
April 7th passed on its Monday way with persistent rain, but friendly strangers.
“I want to be an actor, or do anything in theater.”
“Why?”
“I think it’s a great way of sharing empathy.”
“I probably shouldn’t do this, since I’m a prospective student.”
“That’s okay. What brings you to read Lolita?”
“Whim.”
“How would you advise the Class of 2018?”
“Don’t go in with fixed expectations. I said ‘I’m going to be an English major and not go to parties!’ Whoops.”
“Would you rather be a dragon or have a dragon?”
“I would be a dragon if there were no humans around.”
“If you were a pastry, what would you be?”
“If I pick my favorite, do I have to eat myself?”
“I’m afraid so.”
“Well, blueberry pie.”
“What made you saddest and happiest last week?”
“The saddest thing was the passing of my friend Shawn Presley. But the happiest thing was seeing the roof go up on the new Hillel house. It looks like a real building now.”
“What made [your dog] Mason happiest?”
“Going to the groomer and getting treats. He likes being clean.”
“We’re both from Mexico, so we’re laughing about how similar some things from our childhood were.”
whooops
“If I pick my favorite, do I have to eat myself?” Aaahhhh so endearing!
