The Bookstore is full of quirky things. Because we live in the cute snow globe that is Gambier, we need to be able to buy tchotchkes at the same place we buy our books and bagels (when we’re feeling too lazy to walk to Peirce…or Wiggle). Within that sea of trinkets, however, sometimes one in particular stands out. Behold — the IKEA monkey air freshener.
I like the way this company circumvented IKEA copyright laws by calling it “Runaway Monkey,” yet stayed true to the reference by making it “lingonberry-scented,” which is the type of Scandinavian jam you get on the side of your Swedish meatballs at IKEA cafeterias.
Needless to say, I bought it. Among the better $1.99’s I’ve ever spent.
I heard the bookstore was even better back in teh nineties and two thousands. Friggin’ castle in there!
