The Thrill spotlights a Sexual Misconduct Advisor regularly to raise awareness about the resources available to survivors of sexual assault. Remember, the SMAs are subordinate to the Counseling Center, so anything you tell them is kept confidential. They also have an anonymous hotline you can call if you need assistance: 740-358-1544. Stay safe this weekend, and know that there is always someone you can talk to if you need help.Today, we’re featuring Whitney Simon, a senior from Orange County, California.
Cookie pie or giant cookie? Both.
What’s the best meal you’ve ever had (excluding cookie pie and/or giant cookie)? Spring break of my sophomore year, some friends and I roadtripped across the country. This funny thing happened where lovely Kenyon kids would put us up for the night and then take us to their favorite place in town for breakfast. The eggs with sprouts on a warm biscuit in North Carolina were a highlight.
What’s the last good book you read? Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts.
Why do you love your hometown? Because it was a really interesting place to grow up. See:
What is your favorite place to nap on campus? The floor beneath the desk of my carrel is tempting.
What movie have you watched most frequently and why? My mom is the sweetest. I don’t know if you’ve ever seen It’s Complicated but it nails the divorced mom thing pretty well. Throw in a beautiful kitchen and Alec Baldwin, and it kills her. I personally just love Meryl Streep.
Why did you become an SMA? Sex can be a wonderful, positive, and awesome thing. If it’s not, I think that empowering individuals after trauma is one of the most compassionate and sustainable things we can do in our society. The SMA’s are here to help.
