Kenyon Doppelgängers: Lentz House ’08 and Cox Health & Counseling Center ’14

These two buildings have been aware of their resemblance ever since Cox first started looking at settling down here in Gambier.

“I had to do a double take when I first saw Cox ’14,” says Lentz ’08. “It was like looking into a mirror.”

Though Lentz and Cox look a lot alike, they have some key differences. “Lentz is more of an English nerd,” says Cox. “I’m way more into the sciences.” As you can see from the picture, they share the same general structure. The covered entryway and the turret/skybox/window-hat jutting out from the roof are just two of their commonly held features. Additionally, and not surprisingly, both of these architectural gems were designed by the same man, Graham Gund.

“We don’t really hang out, but we like each other well enough,” Cox says. “Just between you and me, Lentz can be a little too… academic sometimes.” Lentz had a similar criticism of Cox. “Cox spends literally all day trying to figure out ways to help other people. It’s super nice, but it’s maddening to try to just, like, watch a movie with ’em.”

The duo are planning on settling somewhere in Gambier now that they have both completed construction graduated.

  1. Whenever I try to hang out with Cox, they tell me I don’t have an appointment. Even when I really really need to hang out! Asshole.
