There’s more to life than this tiny hill, and the Thrill is venturing out into the world to highlight the best kept secrets of the towns around us.
The Woolson Company
115 S Main St, Mt Vernon, OH 43050
(740) 392-0936
Since 1897, The Woolson Company has been a Knox County staple. It’s tucked away on the street opposite of Bayleaf (RIP) and, like the Room of Requirement, is only there when you need it most. I think. That’s the only way I can explain the fact that I hadn’t stumbled upon it before.
If you’re also unfamiliar, The Woolson Company prides itself on being an authentic general store. It has spices, candles, pottery, antiques, food, and everything in between. The first time we went we purchased Mount Vernon mugs and homemade candles, and the second time, we got cookie cutters and spices for mulled wine. They also have a framed picture of Bill Clinton confessing guilt for only $9.99. It really has a little bit of everything–including a the smallest little shop dog who lets me pet her.
Open Monday-Saturday from 10:30am-5:30pm (don’t listen to the internet. If you show up at 10:00am you will be sad and will have to kill a lot of time in the rain).
