I was born and raised on the island of Maui, which, in Polynesian mythology, is known as the Island of the Sun.

It’s a bird that was in a book that I liked when I was a kid, and I always thought it looked determined… Like it knew where it was going.

 

My childhood best friend and I wanted to get something small and matching. Also, very importantly, there were pugs in the shop we got it done at.

I got it with my mom on Mother’s Day (matching tattoos). I like to think I carry joy with me wherever I go.
