PEIRCEGIVING: A Live-blogging Experience

PEIRCEGIVING

Peircegiving is here and we’re ready to talk about it. Join us throughout the night as two first year staff members experience Peircegiving for the first time…LIVE! Scared? So are we.

4:20 p.m. After hauling 5 additional chairs from the atrium to New Side, we’ve officially claimed a table. With each of us sporting a pair of stretchy pants, we’re ready to take this dinner by storm. T-40 minutes till turkey time.

4:48 p.m. A rebel yell was let out in New Side, causing a stampede of students to form a line. IT IS HAPPENING!!

4:50 p.m. It is not happening yet. The line is both extremely impressive and excruciatingly hot.

LINE

nervous + hungry = nungry?

5:03 p.m. IT’S HAPPENING!! It’s really happening!!

5:07 p.m. “Heaven is a place on Earth with you,” -Me, to mashed potatoes.

5:22 p.m. We’re finally through the line and seated. Ari has two towering plates of food. Spirits are high.

5:28 p.m. I blacked out on sweet potato mash. Ari is moving on to her second plate of food.

5:36 p.m. “My jaw hurts from chewing so much” was just overheard at the table.

5:40 p.m. Descending into a food coma. Very thankful for stretchy pants.

5:50 p.m. After the harsh reality of homework has set in, we’ve decided to call it an evening. Duty calls!

Thanks for taking this journey with us, dear reader. Peircegiving was a success: a delicious meal enjoyed by sweaty students and friends alike. Thank you to all the AVI workers for such a wonderful event! We’re already looking forward to next year.
