MLK Day of Dialogue Adjusted Schedule and Events

Today is MLK Day of Dialogue. The schedule of classes for today is shifted because of the events for the holiday in the evening. The adjusted schedule is as follows:

  • 8:10 – 9:30 a.m. — changes to — 8:10 – 8:50 a.m.
  • 9:10 – 10:00 a.m. — changes to — 9:00 – 9:40 a.m.
  • 10:10 – 11:00 a.m. — changes to — 9:50 – 10:30 a.m.
  • 10:10 – 11:30 a.m. — changes to — 9:50 – 10:55 a.m.
  • 10:10 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. — changes to — 9:50 – 11:20 a.m.
  • 11:10 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. — changes to — 10:40 – 11:20 a.m.
  • 12:10 – 1:00 p.m. — changes to — 11:30 a.m. – 12:10 p.m.
  • 1:10 – 2:00 p.m. — changes to — 12:20 – 1:00 p.m.
  • 1:10 – 2:30 p.m. — changes to — 12:20 – 1:25 p.m.
  • 1:10 – 3:00 p.m. — changes to — 12:20 – 1:50 p.m.
  • 1:10 – 4:00 p.m. — changes to — 12:20 – 2:40 p.m.
  • 2:10 – 3:00 p.m. — changes to — 1:10 – 1:50 p.m.

  • 7:10 – 10:10 p.m. AS USUAL

In the afternoon the festivities for the holiday will begin in Rosse Hall as follows:

  • 3 PM The Battle of Jericho arr. by Moses Hogan and performed by the Chamber Singers.
  • 3:10 PM Welcome from President Sean Decatur.
  • 3:20 PM. Keynote by Professor Ellen Katz: “Bringing Dignity to Voting.”
  • 4 PM Panel and Q&A with Ellen Katz and Kenyon faculty including Associate Professor of Political Science Abbie Erler, Associate Provost for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and Professor of English Ted Mason.
  • 4:50 PM Shed a Little Light performance by the Gospel Choir and Handsome Devils.
  • 5 PM Closing remarks.
  • 5:10-7 p.m. Dinner in the Leach Private Dining Room.

The keynote speaker will be Ellen Katz, a professor of law at the University of Michigan, who is an expert on the 15th Amendment and voting rights act litigation.
