Meet a PC: Cat Von Holt ’19

Every week, The Thrill features a member of a student-support organization to bring awareness about the various resources available to the student body on campus. This week, we’re featuring Cat Von Holt ’19, a Peer Counselor from St. Louis, MO. Stay safe this week, and know that there is always someone you can talk to if you need help.

What is your favorite place to nap on campus?

My classes (lol just kidding it’s my friend Pilar’s bed)

What is your holy grail Peirce Hack?

Root beer floats are simple but classic.

Philander Chase, Lord Kenyon, or Graham Gund?

I just went down into the Gund Gallery collection storage today, and all these famous artists have artworks down there with “For Graham” written on them, which is insane, so eh y’know, he’s on my mind.

What’s your favorite way to procrastinate?

I know this is nerdy but a lot of the time I procrastinate work for one subject by doing work for another subject… you would think this would make me super ahead in all my stuff but nOPE. Also Netflix…

Why did you become a PC?

There was a sweet lovely PC who helped me through some hard things last year, and I’ve often been a supporter to others in my life, and it’s something that means so very much to me.

Peer Counselors work in collaboration with the Kenyon College Health and Counseling Center to “promote mental health and well-being within the student body…open pathways to existing resources, develop student-led discussion groups, and empower the student body through mental health education.” If you want to speak to a PC, they have office hours in the Health and Counseling Center. Drop by and talk to a PC every Sunday-Thursday from 7-9 p.m. and on Fridays and Saturdays between 5:30-7:30 p.m. You can also call their 24/7 hotline at 740-485-5784 (Note: the PC 24-Hour Hotline number has changed in recent weeks! Remember to update your contacts!)
