Hey, hope you’re well in these unprecedented times. I am here to share a practice that is very near and dear to my heart.

As this strange year begins, we are left without a designated space to knock first years down a peg. There are no NCA parties. No New Apt kickbacks. Thus, it’s on us to find new ways to normalize asking them “who do you know here?”

And the best way to do so is via Zoom. Next time a freshman joins your class and is patiently and quietly waiting for Introduction to Microeconomics to start, make a bold choice and unmute yourself. Look them right in the eye, or the camera, and ask the question.

These conversations are tough– but we have to keep having them.
