Horvitz Hall has been buzzing at all hours of the day and night with busy Senior Studio Art majors preparing for the most-anticipated art show of the year. On April 24th, from 5-8PM, the Senior Art Exhibition opens in Kenyon’s premiere art venue: Gund Gallery. Because of Gund Gallery’s prestigious reputation, the Gallery has historically been resistant to showing Senior work–and continues to be so.

We like to stay pretty competitive here at The Thrill, and a Blog Off is one way we can definitively prove that one of us is objectively a better blogger (dare we say, a better person).  So we leave it to you, the reader, to decide in a blind taste test who is really better as we square off on various topics. This time around, we have Brooke Cheney ’17 and Natasha Preston ’17, two Seniors who are so Stressed with Comps that they wrote this post during their half an hour study break that they allow themselves once per day. Weekend Drink: Elixir of Life


This is not your grandfather’s hot toddy. This is the vitamin BOOSTED hot toddy that will rev up your immune system SO MUCH that you’ll be healthy all winter. And it will keep you warm. Because it’s so cold.

For four drinks, you will need:

  • whiskey (to taste)
  • one mug of freshly brewed chamomile tea
  • turmeric (anti-inflamatory, immune boosting)
  • one lemon (zest and juice) (for vitamin C)
  • one packet of Emergen-C (for an EXTRA boost)
  • honey
  • boiled water
  • cloves

10 o’clock list: A Few Things You Didn’t Know About Our Dear Commencement Speaker, Shaka Smart

The open bar is enticing, but everybody knows that Senior Soiree is such an *event* because of one important announcement. One important announcement built on four years of anticipation, that reveals the last taste that will be left in the collective mouth of the graduating class. Indeed, the commencement speaker for 2017 was announced last evening. The Senior class sighed one collective sigh of relief because the anticipation is over. It is my pleasure to announce once more that Shaka Smart will be visiting our fine campus, addressing our fine Seniors on one fine, fated day in May. A member of Kenyon’s class of ’99, Shaka Smart is now the head coach of the men’s basketball team at the University of Texas.
