Freshman year is hard. Whether it hits you socially, academically, physically, or emotionally (you’re not alone if it’s a combination of all four) moving to college is a massive change. It’s really easy when things get rough to let your well-being fall to the side. As someone who only found the counseling center and the KAC the last week of April, I get it. There are really easy ways to treat yo’ self as infrequently as your screwed-up perception of health allows you to!

Old K Party Work Out

Even though we all love the KAC, it’s not always easy to find time to get a work out in. Fortunately, there are alternative methods of burning some calories at Kenyon. One of the best places to do this is at an Old Kenyon party. Here are a few exercises that can help you shed the pounds while you get your groove on.

Ten Minute Dance Challenge. Make your way into the middle of the dance floor and shake your money-maker for ten straight minutes. It’s a great aerobic exercise similar to Jazzercise, except with rap music and people making out all around you. Continue reading

A wise guru once tweeted: “The two most awkward things about Kenyon are Sunday mornings and the spacing of the steps outside Ascension…”

Amen. There are few things that are more uncomfortable than watching someone try to hobble down the notorious Ascension steps without limping like a peg-legged pirate who’s attempting to learn how to jerk. It’s time we all learned how to walk out of our intensive French and Econ courses in style! We’re not gonna let some steps step all over us! Here are Five Ways to Conquer the Ascension Steps:

  1. Skipadeedoodah – While the average stair ranges from being 8 to 10 inches long, the massive ones outside of Ascension measure in at about 2.5 feet each! No wonder you have to take that extra shuffle-step just to make it to the next stair! Instead of being awkward about it, why not embrace the shuffle with a full-on skip? Not only will you blaze down the stairs in record time, but you’ll also give people the impression that you’re just super happy today. Continue reading
