The Lead Story: Tornadoes stormed the Midwest last night, leaving at least 6 dead. Illinois took the brunt of the storm with 10 tornadoes touching down there. From Gawker:

“The whole neighborhood’s gone. The wall of my fireplace is all that is left of my house,” another Washington resident, Michael Perdun, told NBC. “I stepped outside and I heard it coming. My daughter was already in the basement, so I ran downstairs and grabbed her, crouched in the laundry room and all of a sudden I could see daylight up the stairway and my house was gone.”

Romney has asserted to have paid an effective tax rate of at least 13% over the last 20 years (Via reddogreport.com).

Good morning! Here’s the news you may have missed:

The Lead Story: Mitt Romney released his tax records from 2011 on Friday, revealing that his effective tax rate was nearly 14% last year (he paid the IRS with about 950,000 fry pies). Romney’s tax rate could have been lower; however, he decided to forgo $1.75 million in charitable deductions so that he will have paid at least 13% in recent years, an assertion he has made frequently on the campaign trail.
