It Happened to Me: I Spent Five Minutes in LAX NCA and Now I Have a Massive Ulcer

Picture this: it is your second weekend on The Hill. You and your friends have just skillfully finessed your way into LAX NCA, where the music is loud, the heat is oppressive, and some sophomore is dry-heaving into a bag of Doritos. You stay for a few minutes — just long enough to acquaint yourself with the entire first floor of Gund — before receding back into the tepid womb that is your first-year dorm. 

Upon waking up the next morning, you feel different. Perhaps, you suppose, you’re a changed woman — perhaps last night’s sweaty pilgrimage finally transformed you into the poised, self-sufficient, borderline emaciated Kenyon girl that you’ve always aspired to be. 

As it turns out, you’ve just developed a massive ulcer.

Men’s Outdoor Track: at the All-Ohio Championship, placed 18th

Women’s Outdoor Track: at the All-Ohio Championship, placed 16th

Men’s Lacrosse: home vs. Ohio Wesleyan University, beat the Battling Bishops 11-9

Women’s Lacrosse: home vs. the College of Wooster, lost to the Fighting Scots 14-10

Sunday, April 15

Golf: at the Strimer Invitational, placed 11th

Softball: home doubleheader vs. Allegheny College, lost to the Gators 15-2 and 14-0

Baseball: doubleheader at Wittenberg University, trounced the Tigers 12-6 and 11-5

Ultimate Frisbee: at the USAU Ohio DIII College Conference Open, won the conference championship

Women’s Tennis: at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s Midwest Invitational, lost to Carleton College 8-1, lost to DePauw University 8-1

Baseball: home doubleheader vs. Oberlin College, beat the Yeomen 1-0 in game one, lost game two 6-0

Saturday, April 7

Baseball: home doubleheader vs. Oberlin, swept both games by scores of 6-1 in game one and 10-5 in game two

Women’s Outdoor Track: at the Marv Frye Invitational, placed eighth

Men’s Outdoor Track: at the Marv Frye Invitational, placed 12th

Softball: home doubleheader vs. Ohio Wesleyan University, lost game one 3-0, beat the Battling Bishops 7-5 in game two

Women’s Tennis: at the ITA Midwest Invitational, lost to Denison University 5-1, lost to Luther College 5-1

    • First time the Lords have won over Wittenberg since 2009
  • Women’s Lacrosse: at Washington and Jefferson College, lost to the Presidents 8-6
  • Baseball: doubleheader at the College of Wooster, beat the Fighting Scots 8-5 and lost 8-1
    • Victory was the first time the Lords have won at Wooster since 1985
