Talia Light Rake, ’20, Sociology and Drama Double Major

What’s your ultimate Peirce meal?
I once had that Panko Rice dish with an egg, but then I never saw it again. It was pretty yummy though.

If you had to be on type of vegetable, what would you be, and why?
I think I could be the Amish pickled onions. Just cause.

What were your favorite and least favorite things about your first year dorm?
I lived in Norton last year and had a great roommate, but we lived in 101 so we were kind far from the bathroom.

Cats or dogs or salamanders? Why?
Dogs. Why? Cause look how cute my dog Bailey is! talia's dog                                                                   Bailey, cute dog

What’s your zodiac sign, and do you vibe with it?
I’m a Gemini, and for better or worse I think that it’s a perfect fit. For some reason Geminis get a lot of hate, but I think we’re really great.

What’s your current favorite class, and why?
I am currently in a Sociology of Sexuality class with Professor Austin Johnson, and it’s fantastic. It is really redefining how I have viewed sexuality. I think it’s a class that everyone should be required to take.

Why did you want to become an SMA?
Sex and hook-up culture during college, and at Kenyon especially, have the ability to be extremely confusing and uncomfortable. While the hook-up culture is something that almost everyone is a part of, there is very little discussion around it. I wanted to become an SMA so I could be a knowledgeable supporter for my peers, and to create further discussion on campus.

What’s the best meal you’ve ever had?

I really like this bowl of Captain Crunch™ that I’m eating currently?

Dogs or cats?

Very much so dogs. Cats don’t like me. I’m too loud.

What’s the last great movie you saw?

I saw La La Land over break, and even though it seems to be debated, I loved it.

How do you feel about parades?

Love them on television, hate them in person because large crowds of people scare me.

Favorite quirk of Kenyon?

I work in the library and I’m always confused about where Olin begins and Chalmer ends.

What’s the best class you’ve taken at Kenyon so far?

The Director with Jim Dennen. It was a subject I was super interested in and we all got very close as a class!

Why did you become an SMA?

Sexual assault has affected my life personally and being an SMA is a way for me to try and make sure it doesn’t affect other people.
