Peirce Playlist: Bop Your Sadness Away

So, if you’re like me and you try to get breakfast occasionally, there is the morning trek to Peirce. The sun is blinding even on a rainy day, and once you get to the doors they are somehow stuck again. This is the problem we face at Kenyon: how do we capture the emotions of a particular experience? The feeling of walking in the fresh air from the first year quad to Peirce and the immediate drowsiness of the dim yellow light of the entrance? The sudden entrance into the liminal, timeless and clock-less space that is the servery? Well, boy do I have the playlist for you.

Weekday Playlist: Walking to Class

musicman

It’s 9:58 on a Friday morning. You stand just inside the doorway of Old K, not quite ready to make your way to class and attempt to bullshit your way through your third day in a row of not doing the reading. You need something something special to get you going and thankfully, you know just the thing. You take a deep breath, grab your headphones, and hit play on your favorite Pete Davidson-themed playlist. You skip along Middle Path, humming all the way, until just before you fling open the glass doors of the Gund Gallery, an even better song starts to play! Weekday Playlist: Unoffensive Corporate Jazz Inspired by Panera Bread

I love your work. (via panerabread.com)

Eight o’clock finds me doing small Hillary Clinton-esque shoulder shimmies to the ’90s jazz tunes softly tumbling out of the Mount Vernon Panera Bread’s speakers. I’m having a dope-ass, chill-ass Tuesday, And You Should Too!™

To bring my fun experience straight to you, I Shazam’d a bunch of the songs I’ve heard within the past hour and put them all in a neat lil playlist. This entirely innocuous and somewhat bland set of moderately funky jams will make you say, “Hey! This is something I could have played on my tiny Bluetooth speaker when my parents walked into my Mather double last weekend to make it seem like college had made me super mature and sophisticated!” Or perhaps you’ll think, “Wow! This forces me to focus even harder on procrastinating! Maybe I should check out that Kim Kardashian app!”

Anyway, here’s the playlist. Hunker down, study up, and stay tuned for updates – there’s no way I’m going to stop asking Siri “what song is this” every two to three minutes. I’ve already set a precedent.
