Good morning! Here’s what you missed while you were at Deb Ball:

The Lead Story: This week’s lead story belongs to our swim team, who spent the weekend at Division III Nationals in Indianapolis. Our Lords and Ladies performed valiantly in the pool, with the men edging out rival Denison by eight points to lock in first place. Our ladies finished in second place behind Emory University to take the runner-up spot. In diving, Maria Zarka ’16 won her second national title in the three meter board. Congratulations all around!

The first weekend back on the Hill after winter break was an exciting one for Kenyon athletes. The indoor track season started with a meet at rival Ohio Wesleyan University, while swimming and diving hosted a home invite, testing themselves against several Division I and II opponents. Both basketball seasons continued, with the Ladies winning in comeback fashion at home and the Lords losing on the road. Here are all the results. Continue reading

Kenyon Coach Jim Steen Tops John Wooden, Says Alum

Former UCLA head men’s basketball coach John Wooden was unquestionably one of the most revered coaches in college sports. But recently, after The Wall Street Journal published two book reviews about Wooden, Richard Arkless ’58 pointed out that while Wooden was great, he was not the most successful college sports coach of all time. Sports on the hill took an epic turn this weekend, in my opinion. Swimming season started, the volleyball team snapped a 30-game losing streak on senior day, men’s soccer continued its great season and women’s rugby clinched a playoff berth, all within the span of 24 hours. Here are all of the results, from those matchups and beyond.
