Uphill/Downhill: Parents Weekend
Soon, the Parents will descend upon the campus. This means it’s time for another round of Uphill/Downhill
Uphill: Parents Weekend Without Your Parents — This is the ideal weekend for those of you who don’t have your parents coming. Your friends will invite you out to meals (for free, of course) and all you’ll have to do is act like you don’t know all the terrible things your friend has done so far this semester. “Yes, Mrs. Smith, I’m continually impressed with how studious Sarah is!” Bingo bango, you’re in the clear! Half an hour later you’ll be able to leave and have the time of your life partying. The real winners this weekend, though? The Amish.
How to Order Drinks at the VI Like a Boss
The first Kenyon Wednesday is upon us again. On future Wednesdays (and other more weekend-y days) there may come a time when you’re of age with money to spend and a insatiable desire to get your drink on at the classiest joint in town, the Village Inn. Whether you consider yourself a VI veteran or you’ve never been before, there is essential etiquette. You can go out and break these rules, but your bar karma will eventually catch up to you, embarrassingly.
For the betterment of all, I’ve outlined the most important elements of VI etiquette below.
Do It Tonight: ALS Benefit In Memory of Tom Turgeon

Tom Turgeon
The late Tom Turgeon, Drama Professor Emeritus at Kenyon, taught at the college from 1972 to 2008. He passed away this January from ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Help celebrate his legacy with a benefit at the VI tonight. There will be trivia from the brothers of DKE and the sisters of EDM as well as a performance by A Sassy Nation. There is a suggested $5 donation at the door, and a $15 fee for teams of 4-6 people in the trivia contest. All proceeds go to the ALS Association.
What: ALS Benefit in memory of Tom Turgeon
Where: The Village Inn
When: Friday, March 22nd, Door: 8:30 p.m., Trivia: 9:00 p.m., A Sassy Nation: 11:00 p.m.
Today’s VI Special: “Grilled Cheese With Stuff”
Spotted on the VI sign this morning – I think the cold might just be getting to us all. [Spoiler alert: I got the special. The grilled cheese is good, but the best part is the stuff.]
