Kenyon has named Heidi Hansen McCrory as the College’s vice president for college relations, succeeding Sarah Kahrl. Kahrl will continue as director of the Kenyon Institute. According to a Student-Info sent out by the College’s News Bulletin, McCrory has spent the last several years at Sweet Briar College as vice president for alumnae and development. President Decatur has thrown his support behind McCrory, telling the Bulletin that “Heidi brings great energy and confidence. She is well-prepared for the work ahead. Heidi understands not only the mechanics but the joy of philanthropy. And Heidi appreciates the importance of the student experience and the academic mission.”

The search committee was comprised of College trustees, administration, faculty and alumni and was headed by Trustee David Meuse. McCrory herself is excited for the chance to do philanthropic work and to be at Kenyon. “Kenyon is at an exciting point in its history,” McCrory told the Bulletin. “Who wouldn’t jump at the chance to join Kenyon College?”

    • Yeah. And I hope it goes without saying that Decatur has “thrown his support” behind the person filling this position, since I doubt she could have been hired without his full approval, and I really doubt he’d express anything but support for her before she’s even had a chance to start work.

      • The lede has been edited to reflect the fact that McCrory will be succeeding Sarah Kahrl.
